When navigating content with a screen reader, every extra word creates cognitive load. To achieve clarity in executive and corporate English:

  • Prioritize Subject and Verb Proximity: Place the grammatical subject and main action verb within the first seven words of a sentence.
  • Eliminate Nominalization: Do not turn strong verbs into clunky nouns (e.g. use "we decided" instead of "we made a decision regarding").
  • Avoid Stacking Prepositional Phrases: Limit chains like "at the meeting in the room on the third floor of the office".
